Cameraman Tower Defense scientist Stats and Tips
See Cameraman Tower Defense scientist stats, Scientist Crate notes, Laser Cameraman upgrade costs, and why farm-unit tips from other games do not apply.
A Cameraman Tower Defense scientist is the center of the latest unit patch, not a lobby decoration. The update adds a paid and reward-based crate, a redesigned hub, and a laser tower that hits enemies in a cone instead of one target at a time. Anyone who looked up a Cameraman Tower Defense scientist after hearing it was a cash farm should stop and check the game title, because that income role belongs to a different Roblox defense game and will not fund your waves here.
What the Scientist Patch Changed
Aligators Games (developers aibat303e and iop_dev) shipped this as a unit update and a hub update together. Before you buy a Cameraman Tower Defense scientist crate, compare the list below with your own server. Clips from before the patch still show the old lobby, and those screenshots will send you to the wrong counter.
| Change | What the patch documentation says | How sure is it? |
|---|---|---|
| Scientist Crate | Shop listing at 49 Robux, plus a post-match reward on Insane | Shop price is documented; the drop rate is player testing |
| Lobby | British-style architecture, background music, scrolling song title | Described with the patch |
| Stages | ToyCity, Desert, and CameraManHD named as playable maps | Described with the patch |
| Match size | Solo, or co-op with up to four players in one match | Described with the patch |
| Server size | Free-to-play servers noted for up to 30 players | A listing detail, not the match cap |
The shop price is the reliable path if you want the crate the same day. Gameplay tests put the Insane clear reward near a 20% drop. Treat that 20% as player experience, not as an official odds table. It also only applies if the match actually ends in a clear. A leak on the last wave is not a farming method.
The lobby work is cosmetic. A new skyline and a scrolling track title do not change damage. They do make old "where do I click" guides stale, so use the live shop.
Do not mix the two player caps. A server note of 30 people is not permission to bring 30 fighters into one defense, and it is not a unit-placement cap. The match note still says solo or up to four players. Plan your lanes around that match size.
You can confirm you are in the right experience on the Cameraman Tower Defense page on Roblox before you spend Robux or copy a loadout from chat.
Update blurbs talk about new scientist units in the plural. The only full upgrade sheet attached to this patch is the crate tower, labeled Scientist Cameraman and also Laser Cameraman. Strategy chatter sometimes names a Large Scientist Cameraman for crowd control. A complete level table for that second name is not confirmed here. If the portrait on your hotbar does not match the laser described below, do not paste these costs onto it.
Cameraman Tower Defense scientist Stats, Level by Level
Testing of the crate unit shows a frontal laser with cone area damage. Toilets grouped along the beam get hit together. This is not a single-target shot, and it is not a circle around the tower's feet. Side paths outside the beam do not take splash just because the unit is nearby.
Placement on wave 1 costs 300 cash. That 300 is the Level 1 price, not an extra fee on top of deploying. Later rows in the sheet are the price of that upgrade alone. Range, attack speed, and listed DPS all rise as you pay. Damage per hit does not rise on the last step.
| Level | Cost of this step | Damage | Range | Cooldown | Listed DPS | Attack |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 300 (place) | 25 | 9 | 0.55s | 50.0 | Cone AoE |
| 2 | 700 | 75 | 11 | 0.40s | 187.5 | Cone AoE |
| 3 | 1,200 | 150 | 13 | 0.40s | 375.0 | Cone AoE |
| 4 | 1,500 | 250 | 15 | 0.30s | 833.3 | Cone AoE |
| 5 | 3,000 | 250 | 20 | 0.22s | 1,250.0 | Cone AoE |
Adding every row comes to 6,700 cash for one tower taken from the shop slot to max. Damage stays at 250 from Level 4 to Level 5. What you buy with the last 3,000 cash, on this sheet, is range 20 and a shorter cooldown.
Check the DPS column against damage divided by cooldown before you trust it in a budget.
| Level | Damage ÷ cooldown | DPS printed on the sheet | Match? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 25 / 0.55 ≈ 45.5 | 50.0 | No |
| 2 | 75 / 0.40 = 187.5 | 187.5 | Yes |
| 3 | 150 / 0.40 = 375 | 375.0 | Yes |
| 4 | 250 / 0.30 ≈ 833.3 | 833.3 | Yes |
| 5 | 250 / 0.22 ≈ 1,136 | 1,250.0 | No |
Levels 2 through 4 line up with a simple shot every cooldown. Level 1 and Level 5 do not. The cooldown might be rounded, the beam might tick in a way the sheet never explains, or the printed DPS might be a typo. None of those three readings is confirmed. Open the in-match upgrade card and let that card overrule a wiki table. Until you do, treat 1,250 as a reported figure, not a measured one.
Using a Cameraman Tower Defense scientist as your only late-game answer is a cash choice as much as a damage choice. The cone is built for packs. A single beam still has to chew through whatever health the mode puts on the path.
Which Upgrades Are Worth the Cash
The ratios below are arithmetic on the printed sheet, including the two DPS numbers that do not match damage divided by cooldown. They are not hidden stats.
| Level | Cash spent so far | Listed DPS | Listed DPS per 100 cash | Range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 300 | 50 | 16.7 | 9 |
| 2 | 1,000 | 187.5 | 18.8 | 11 |
| 3 | 2,200 | 375 | 17.0 | 13 |
| 4 | 3,700 | 833.3 | 22.5 | 15 |
| 5 | 6,700 | 1,250 | 18.7 | 20 |
If Level 5 is really closer to 1,136 DPS, its per-cash score drops and Level 4 looks even better. Even with the printed 1,250, Level 4 is the peak ratio on the sheet.
| Step | Cash | Listed DPS gained | Listed DPS per 100 cash | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Place Level 1 | 300 | 50 | 16.7 | First cone, range 9 |
| 1 to 2 | 700 | 137.5 | 19.6 | More damage, faster shots, +2 range |
| 2 to 3 | 1,200 | 187.5 | 15.6 | Damage doubles, cooldown stays 0.40s |
| 3 to 4 | 1,500 | 458.3 | 30.6 | Damage 150 to 250, cooldown 0.40s to 0.30s |
| 4 to 5 | 3,000 | 416.7 | 13.9 | Damage unchanged; range 20 and a faster shot |
Level 3 is the dull purchase. Cooldown does not move, so most of the 1,200 cash is the damage number plus two range. Level 4 is the spike: less cash than the finale, and the sheet shows both a damage jump and a real attack-speed cut. Level 5 is the most expensive single click and the worst listed DPS per cash. Buy it for the longer beam, not because you expect each hit to get heavier.
Player testing on early waves points the same direction. A 300 cash body is cheap enough to repeat when a map has more path than one range-9 cone can see. Get a second Level 1 down before you sink 700 cash into Level 2, if that second cone is what stops the first leak. After the lane is calm, push one tower to Level 4 (3,700 cash total) before you even look at the 3,000 cash capstone.
Two Level 4 towers cost 7,400 cash and list about 1,667 combined DPS, with two cones at range 15. One Level 5 costs 6,700 and lists 1,250 DPS at range 20. That comparison is math, not a recorded clear. If you still have a placement slot and two angles that fill with enemies, the pair of Level 4s is the stronger sheet. If you are out of room and one straight path is long, range 20 is the actual reason to pay for Level 5.
That is the real Cameraman Tower Defense scientist choice in the mid game: another cone, or a longer one.
Sell refunds are not on this patch sheet. Some other tower-defense games hand back half the money. Do not assume that here. Read the sell quote in the match before you plan to delete early towers and pivot.
Placement and What Testing Actually Showed
Cone value depends on how many enemies sit inside the beam, and for how long. A tower planted only at the entrance can look busy while fast units walk out of the shot. Co-op testing called out that exact leak: everything stacked on the front, the back line empty, and runners gone. Spread towers along bends and crossings so the beam meets a clump instead of a single file that has already turned the corner.
Range 9 is short. A Level 1 behind the pack still helps only if it is facing the path those enemies are on. The attack is frontal. A corner can hide a toilet that a circle-splash tower would still have hit.
Early and mid waves are where this attack type earns the placement cost. Dense, lower-health packs are the targets a piercing cone is for. In solo Hard testing, much thicker health showed up around wave 20. The same player-experience notes cite a Wave 35 Toilet 2.55 at 234,000 HP. That is one recorded Hard-mode threat, not a complete boss index. At a listed 1,250 DPS, a single maxed beam needs a long time to chew a bar that size, and only if it is hitting the whole time. Bring other units for late waves. This sheet does not show a scientist-only clear.
A public video asks whether every scientist unit can beat Insane. The captions available with that upload are not gameplay commentary, so they do not confirm a win or a loss. Companion guides describe Insane as a long mode, and some call it 50 waves. Wave counts move when stages get reworked. Read the counter on the stage you queued.
The three named maps, ToyCity, Desert, and CameraManHD, are not the same shape. Walk the path on the first waves before you commit Level 4 money. You want a tile where the cone stays full, not the tile closest to the base.
In a four-player match, say out loud who owns the back line. Four cones on the first bend repeat the leak testing already described. Four separate economies can also over-build Level 1s. Agree on one tower to push toward Level 4 instead of eight untouched placements.
Do Not Import Another Game's Scientist
Toilet Tower Defense is a different Roblox game. It is not an alternate name for Cameraman Tower Defense, and its roster is not this roster. That other game has a Scientist Cameraman that community pages describe as an income unit. Some of those sentences have been repeated on pages that use this game's title.
| Claim you may see in chat or on a wiki | Safe to use here? |
|---|---|
| Maxed scientist makes 500 cash per wave | Not confirmed for this game |
| Four of them make 2,000 cash per wave | Not confirmed for this game |
| Crate unit is a cone laser, 300 to place, 6,700 to max | Yes, this is the documented patch sheet |
| Crate costs 49 Robux, with a tested Insane reward | Shop price documented; 20% is player experience |
| Large Scientist has the same upgrades | Not confirmed |
| Selling returns half of what you spent | Not confirmed on this sheet |
| Other carries' DPS (Titan, TV Spider, and similar) | Not part of this unit; do not borrow those numbers |
If a friend describes the Cameraman Tower Defense scientist as a money printer, ask which game they were queued into. Nothing in the cone table lists cash gained per wave. The tower spends cash, up to 6,700 on one body, to make damage. An income plan built on 500 a wave will leave you short when the Level 4 bill arrives.
There is a naming clash inside write-ups that claim to cover this update. The patch testing presents Scientist Cameraman and Laser Cameraman as one crate unit with the cone sheet. Other pages split them: a scientist that only farms, and a laser you buy late after selling starters. One of those pages points at a Toilet Tower Defense wiki for the scientist. Do not treat that citation as a source of facts for Aligators Games' game.
A thirty-second check beats another tab. Open the unit card in a match. If you see cone or laser wording and upgrade prices in the hundreds and thousands of cash, you are on the combat tower this guide covers. If a paragraph never mentions range, cooldown, or a beam, and only talks about cash per wave, it is not describing the table above.
Ninja Cameraman, Titan Cameraman, crate rotations, and coin passes show up in broader loadout talk. Their prices and DPS are not in the scientist patch sheet, so they are left out on purpose. A guide that fills those blanks with another game's legendary units will mis-rank this cone.
FAQ
What does the Cameraman Tower Defense scientist actually do?
In this game's Scientist patch, it is the combat unit taken from the Scientist Crate, also labeled Laser Cameraman in the testing notes. It fires a frontal cone laser. A cash-per-wave role is not confirmed for it here.
How do you get the Scientist Crate?
The patch lists the crate in the shop for 49 Robux. Player experience also reports about a 20% chance after you finish an Insane match. That percentage is not an official posted rate, and it is tied to a clear, not to simply queuing the mode.
How much cash is one maxed laser?
300 to place, then 700, 1,200, 1,500, and 3,000. The running total is 6,700 cash. Stopping at Level 4 means 3,700 cash spent and the best listed DPS per cash on the sheet, at range 15 instead of 20.
Can a full scientist lineup beat Insane?
Not confirmed. A community video asks the question, but the captions do not record the result. Hard-mode player testing already shows very large health bars by wave 35. Use the cone for grouped early and mid waves, and do not assume it replaces a dedicated late-game carry.
